OXFORD – Novarix announce today the introduction of a new IV-eye near infrared vein finder with both greyscale and colour display modes. The new screen features help enhance contrast and definition of peripheral veins for intravenous (IV) therapy and blood sampling.
The use of vein visualisation technology for assessment and selection is now being recommended for patients with difficult veins by professional bodies such as the Infusion Nurses Society (INS) the Royal College of Nursing (RCN), and the Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland (AAGBI).
The IV-eye near infrared vein finder is suitable for hospital, pre-hospital (EMS), clinic, home and remote environments where peripheral vascular access procedures are performed; from carrying out the initial vascular assessment, locating difficult to find veins and assisting in choosing the best site on the chosen vein.
The new version of the IV-eye provides users all the benefits of portability, simplicity and direct contact performance along with greater image contrast. The greyscale imaging improves identification of deeper lying veins whilst the binary colour display helps reduce the impact of hair interference.
John Scott, CEO of Novarix comments: “Here at Novarix we are all about making IV therapy simpler for both healthcare professionals and patients. We have invested a great deal of thought and energy into developing the IV-eye near infrared vein finder with this ethos in mind. The IV-eye is the smallest device of its kind on the market, very simple to use, and can visualise veins up to 10mm beneath the surface of the skin. Now with the addition of the colour display option, we can offer healthcare professionals even more confidence to choose the right site on the right vein, first time, every time; ultimately helping them to improve the patient care and experience.”
